Job summary

Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver preschool services across the province, with both virtual and in-person options. The home base will be within the HRM region, with regular travel across Nova Scotia.

The role requires a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology and NSCASLP licensure or eligibility, plus flexibility to provide evening/weekend services and travel. Compensation starts at $92,939 CAD full-time with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• NSCASLP licensure or eligible for licensure.
• Effective communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Flexibility in work schedule to provide evening/weekend services.
• Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education, events and/or meetings.
• Candidates will have to demonstrate current immunization and/or boosters at the end of the probationary period.
• Experience with provision of preschool speech and language assessment and treatment.
• Familiarity with a variety of service delivery options for pediatric caseloads.
• Demonstrated commitment to family-centered care.
• Flexibility in work schedule to support outreach/parachute services; travel throughout NS regularly.
• Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide preschool speech-language pathology services across the province, including virtual and in-person sessions.
• Travel across the province with regular overnight stays as needed.
• Report to the assigned Manager.
• Support provincial clinical standards and contribute to program initiatives.

Hearing and Speech Nova Scotia(HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 37 clinical sites, located in 26 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists, with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals, provide core services (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment), develop and monitor provincial clinical standards, and collaborate with partners to deliver a number of special programs (e.g., Autism, Stroke, Cochlear Implant). Established in 1963, HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders for Nova Scotians.

We are accepting applications for the temporary, full-time position of Speech-Language Pathologist. While the home base will be at a to-be-determined site in the HRM, this position will provide preschool speech-language pathology services throughout the province, including virtual and in-person services. The successful candidate reports to the assigned Manager. Schedule to be determined and will include regular overnight travel across the province.

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligible for licensure
• Effective communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English. If English is not your first language further documents will be required.
• Flexibility in work schedule to provide evening/weekend services
• Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education, events and/or meetings
• Candidates will have to demonstrate current immunization and/or boosters at the end of the probationary period
• Experience with provision of preschool speech and language assessment and treatment
• Familiarity with a variety of service delivery options for pediatric caseloads
• Demonstrated commitment to family-centered care
• Flexibility in work schedule to support outreach/parachute servicesFlexibility to travel throughout NS on a regular basis
• Valid Nova Scotia driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle

Assets:

• 2 years of experience with pediatric caseload
• Experience working with interprofessional clinical teams and/or working with supportive personnel
• Experience with provision of services via telepractice
• Experience providing caregiver training and/or coaching
• Experience in provision of outreach clinics
• Ability to communicate in multiple languages in a clinical setting
• Lived experience with a communication difference
• Able to start immediately
