Job summary

Hearing & Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) in Bridgewater, NS, is seeking a full-time Audiologist to join our provincial audiology program. The home base is the South Shore Regional Hospital, with a schedule to be determined.

The successful candidate will provide audiology diagnostic and management services, participate in telepractice as needed, and support family-centered care across diverse populations. Relocation assistance is available and eligibility for licensure in NSCASLP is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Audiology required.
• Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligible for licensure.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English; additional documents if English is not first language.
• Flexibility to work evenings/weekends and travel as needed.
• Current immunization or boosters by end of probation.

Responsibilities

• Provide audiological diagnostic and management procedures in acute and outpatient settings.
• Perform hearing aid verification and validation.
• Deliver services within diverse clinical settings and telepractice when appropriate.
• Collaborate with interprofessional teams and supervise students as needed.
• Maintain family-centered care and effective communication with clients and professionals.

Successful applicants may be eligible for a relocation allowance of up to $2,500, subject to submission of a receipt. In turn, a return of service will be required for 2 years.

Compensation: $51.06-$66.50/hour
Hours: 70 hours biweekly

Hearing & Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology services to preschool children and adults. HSNS is funded by the NS Government to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 37 clinical sites, located in 26 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists, with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals, provide core services (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment), develop and monitor provincial clinical standards, and collaborate with partners to deliver a number of special programs (e.g., Autism, Stroke, Cochlear Implant).

Established in 1963, HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders for Nova Scotians.

HSNS is accepting applications for a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Audiologist position. The home base is Bridgewater (South Shore Regional Hospital). The successful candidate

reports to the assigned Manager. Schedule to be determined.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Audiology
• Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligible for licensure
• Effective communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English
  • If English is not your first language, we will need additional documents.
• Flexibility in work schedule to provide evening/weekend services
• Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education, events or meetings
• The candidate will have to demonstrate current immunization or boosters at the end of the probationary period.
• Experience with the provision of audiological diagnostic and management procedures in acute and outpatient settings
• Knowledge of discipline-specific best practices in screening, diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic services
• Experience with hearing aid verification and validation
• Knowledge of discipline-specific best practices in assessment and early intervention of young children with developmental disabilities
• Demonstrated commitment to family-centered care
• Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of clients and professionals

Assets

• Experience working with interprofessional clinical teams or working with supportive personnel
• One year of experience with vestibular testing
• Two years of clinical experience within the last five years with Audiology assessment and rehabilitation
• Experience with the provision of services via telepractice
• Experience in providing student supervision
• Occupational Health & Safety training
• Ability to communicate in multiple languages in a clinical setting
• Lived experience with a communication difference
• Able to start immediately
