Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

The Speech-Language Pathologist, under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation or Clinical Manager at the branch level, is responsible for conducting assessments, providing treatment, education, and managing clients requiring Speech and Language Pathology interventions, in accordance with professional standards.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  1. Assess clients, establish and evaluate treatment programs, including goals and discharge plans. Maintain accurate clinical records according to standards set by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. Document assessment results, goals, treatment, client progress, and discharge plans.
  2. Collaborate with other healthcare team members as needed.
  3. Communicate relevant information and recommendations to clients and care providers, and provide education regarding treatment strategies.
  4. Observe and guide assistants involved in speech and language programs as necessary.

Other Responsibilities

  1. Maintain active registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  2. Participate in ongoing internal and external education activities.
  3. Adhere to Bayshore's policies and procedures.
  4. Engage in quality improvement initiatives aligned with the company's Quality Management System.
  5. Participate in health and safety activities and report any risks or concerns.
  6. Maintain client and corporate confidentiality, discussing sensitive information only with appropriate personnel.
  7. Complete other tasks as requested.

Job Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree or recognized equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology. Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.

Experience: Preferably three years providing Speech-Language Pathology services. Experience with in-home assessments and treatments; knowledge of auto insurance and legal systems is an asset, especially for medical/legal report writing.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Enjoy working with clients of all ages in various treatment settings. Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and decision-making skills. Ability to handle difficult situations objectively and consistently. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Basic computer skills and proficiency with secure email. Commitment to ongoing learning. Valid driver’s license.

Standards of Performance

The Speech-Language Pathologist must demonstrate ongoing competency in fulfilling all duties and responsibilities, adapting to regulatory changes and achieving specific goals and objectives.
