Job summary

ParaMed is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to conduct in-home and virtual assessments for adults, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support independence and well-being. You will assess communication and swallowing concerns, develop evidence-based care plans, and coordinate with families and providers in Owen Sound, ON.

The role emphasizes flexible scheduling, remote options for non-local clients, and adherence to ParaMed policies.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the Ontario College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists in good standing.
  • New graduates licensed to practice accepted.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of community resources available for clients and families.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (within the past 12 months).
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare workers and community resources.
  • Provide home-based assessments using standardized tools.
  • Assess adults with stroke or neurological conditions, including speaking and swallowing assessments.
  • Design care plans using evidence-based information, guidelines, and clinical expertise.
  • Coordinate with client families and other health professionals on goals and service plans.
  • Maintain professional client records in compliance with ParaMed policies and regulatory standards.

Job Description

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide communityvisits to assess abilities and needs of individuals while working with multidisciplinary teams. You will work independently with primarily adult clients in their homes on a face to face basis, or in a virtual capacity for those living outside of the region. What you’ll do
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of healthcare workers and other community resources
  • Provide assessments in a home setting based on presenting impairment or diagnosis using standardized tools
  • You will see individuals with a wide variety of concerns including but not limited to clients recovering from stroke or other neurological problems, thus conducting speaking and swallowing assessments
  • Design a care plan using evidence-based information, relevant best practice guidelines, and clinical expertise
  • Partner with our client’s family members, caregivers and other healthcare professionals regarding care goals and service plans.
  • Maintain professional client records related to client encounters and plans in compliance with ParaMed’s policies and the standards applied by the regulatory body or CASPLO.
What you bring
  • Registration with the provincial College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (in good standing)
  • Accepting New Graduates Licensed
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families
  • Current certification (within the past 12 months) of First Aid and CPR
  • A valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle
  • Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS)
