Job summary

LCI Education in Montreal West is seeking a Specialized Education Technician to work under the Associate Director - Student Services. You will advise and support both students and frontline colleagues, intervening in individual and collective student support.

You will respond as first line for psychosocial support, implement accommodations, follow up with students, and help them develop strategies and social skills. Strong French and English proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Hold a college diploma (DEC) with an appropriate specialization (social work) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience related to the position.
• Proficiency in French (spoken and written) and professional proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Respond to psychosocial support requests from students, teachers, or staff as first line of contact.
• Implement accommodations recommended by the advisor.
• Follow up with students to foster autonomy and learning strategies.
• Support students in learning using strategies, specialized software, and adapted materials.
• Develop students' social skills and coordinate with teachers when applicable.
• Complete intervention/home plans and accompany students during exams when needed.
• Perform additional related tasks as required.

Job description

As a Specialized Education Technician, and under the supervision of the Associate Director - Student Services you play a key role in providing services to students within the Student Experience Directorate at LaSalle College. You advise and support both students and frontline colleagues. In your role, you intervene both in individual assistance and collective support.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first line to respond to psychosocial support requests from students (requests from students directly, teachers, or administrative staff);
• Implement the accommodations recommended by the advisor;
• Ensure regular follow-up with students, develop their autonomy;
• Support the student in learning: strategies, specialized software, adapted materials;
• Develop students' social skills;
• Ensure coordination and follow-up with teachers (if applicable);
• Complete the intervention/home plan;
• Accompany students experiencing panic attacks during an exam period;
• Perform any other related tasks.

Requirements

• Hold a college diploma (DEC) with an appropriate specialization, particularly in social work, or have a recognized equivalent diploma;
• 3 years of relevant experience related to the position;
• Proficiency in French language (spoken and written);
• Professional proficiency in English language (spoken and written).

This role involves interaction with internal and external clients and partners on a national and global scale. Professional proficiency in English is therefore a requirement for this role.
