You’re a strategic and hands-on Learning & Leadership Development professional who’s passionate about helping people grow. You bring strong business awareness, creativity, and a learner-centered mindset to everything you do. You're energized by developing leaders, strengthening culture, and delivering practical learning experiences that make a real impact.

In this role, you'll work closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to design, deliver, and manage leadership and employee development programs that support Canfor’s talent strategy.

A day in the life of the Specialist, Learning & Leadership Development includes:

Program Design and Development

  • Assess learning and leadership development needs across the organization
  • Design engaging and practical learning experiences using virtual, in-person, and blended formats
  • Curate and build content that reflects Canfor’s values and strategic priorities
  • Develop training materials and digital learning resources
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts on content and instructional design
  • Maintain and update the Learning Management System (LMS), run reports, troubleshoot issues, and support the business by responding to learning-related inquiries

Delivery & Facilitation

  • Facilitate impactful training sessions for employees and leaders, both in person and virtually
  • Coordinate the promotion, registration, and scheduling of Canfor College programs
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and learner feedback
  • Manage leadership programs, learning platforms, and initiatives like MentorMe
  • Serve as webinar producer, providing behind-the-scenes support for virtual learning sessions, including managing platform logistics, monitoring chat/Q&A, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring a smooth learner experience.

Training Coordination & Administration

  • Provide accurate, consistent, and timely responses to learning requests
  • Handle logistics for virtual and in-person sessions (e.g., invites, venues, materials, surveys, follow-ups)
  • Track leadership program completions and issue certificates
  • Manage grant funding applications and reporting (e.g., BC Training Grants)
  • Support the administration of leadership assessments (e.g., DiSC, 360s)
  • Stay current on L&D trends and tools to bring new ideas forward
  • Partner with HR, Operations, and subject matter experts to align learning with business goals
  • Look for ways to improve learning processes, platforms, and delivery

For this role, you'll come equipped with:

  • 5+ years of experience in a learning-focused role with a strong emphasis on leadership development, instructional design, facilitation, or organizational development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven experience in designing, planning, and supporting leadership training programs, including curriculum design and course development
  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a specialization in HR, Education, Organizational Development or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a learning-focused role with a strong emphasis onleadership development, instructional design, facilitation, or organizational development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven experience in designing, planning, andsupporting leadership training programs, including curriculum design and course development
  • Hands-on experience in training delivery and facilitation
  • Certifications in psychometric tools (e.g., DiSC, MBTI) are an asset
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, or working towards designation, is an asset
  • Experience operating Learning Management Systems and/or other training databases (experience with SAP Success Factors would be an asset)
  • Experience authoring online learning and performance support resources in tools such Articulate Rise and or Storyline, is an asset
  • Extensive experience with communication tools, like MS Teams, Zoom, or other conference and communication platforms
  • Strong communication skills (active listening, written and oral)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices and programs in an industrial setting

The salary range for this position is: $80,000.00-$100,000.00
