Job summary

Fil Delivery in Mississauga, ON, is hiring for a role owning shipment execution and freight spend analysis within a growing beverage supply chain company. This position supports Account Managers and Business Development Managers by providing actionable operational insights and cost-saving recommendations.

The successful candidate will analyze carrier costs, manage day-to-day freight activities, and present savings opportunities while maintaining accurate dispatch data and clear carrier

Qualifications

• 2+ years in freight operations, dispatch, or brokerage support.
• Working knowledge of a brokerage TMS.
• Strong detail orientation and reliable follow-through.
• Proficient with spreadsheets and data analysis for savings cases.
• Understanding of carrier cost structure and rate implications.
• English required; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day shipment execution across the freight book—booking, tracking, exception handling, and follow-up on proof of delivery.
• Carrier communication and issue resolution, working with the transportation team.
• Building service performance reporting for business reviews.
• Documenting claims and service failures with root-cause findings.
• Keeping the dispatch system accurate and up to date.
• Handling escalation intake on active service recoveries and keeping customers informed.
• Reviewing freight spend monthly to spot consolidation opportunities and presenting written savings recommendations.

Role:

This role owns shipment execution and freight spend analysis for FIL Freight's commercial team — so Account Managers and Business Development Managers can spend their time winning business instead of managing operational fires. It doesn't carry a revenue book, but it carries real accountability: customers get one dedicated contact who can actually resolve things, not just relay them, and every month FIL gets a clear-eyed look at its own cost of purchased transportation. Carrier selection, rate negotiation, and network decisions stay with Transportation — this role brings the analysis and the recommendation, Transportation makes the call.

Key Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day shipment execution across the freight book — booking, tracking, exception handling, and following up on proof of delivery.
• Carrier communication and issue resolution, working closely with the transportation team.
• Building the service performance reporting that supports business reviews.
• Documenting claims and service failures, including root cause findings.
• Keeping the dispatch system accurate and up to date.
• Handling escalation intake on active service recovery situations, including keeping customers informed along the way.
• Reviewing freight spend by carrier, lane, and mode each month to spot consolidation opportunities, and presenting a written recommendation with a savings estimate and capacity impact at the monthly spend review.

What Success Looks Like in Year One

• Strong on-time performance across the freight book.
• Quick turnaround on exception resolution and claims closure.
• Clean, complete data in the dispatch system.
• A measurable reduction in the cost of purchased transportation, reflected in contribution margin improvement on consolidated lanes — credited to this role where Transportation acts on the recommendation.
• A spend review delivered every single month, twelve for twelve.

What we are looking for:

• 2+ years of experience in freight operations, dispatch, or brokerage support.
• Working knowledge of a brokerage TMS.
• A strong eye for detail and follow-through — this role is all about making sure nothing slips.
• Comfortable working in spreadsheets, including pulling and structuring spend data to build a solid, defensible savings case.
• A good understanding of carrier cost structure — linehaul, fuel, accessorial, detention — and how volume commitments affect rates.
• English required; French is an asset.
