Job summary

Squamish Nation is seeking a Special Projects Intern to support administrative operations, project coordination, communications, and research within X̱etx̱ítayus Ch'áwch'aw Corporate Services.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Corporate Services, this role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic Indigenous government environment while contributing to organizational effectiveness and service excellence across the Nation.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a related program (Business Admin, Public Admin, Communications, PM, HR, Commerce).
  • Equivalent combinations of education and transferable experience may be considered.
  • Experience in administrative, customer service, volunteer, student leadership, or project coordination is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications including Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw history, culture, land, and people is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and monitoring organizational projects and initiatives.
  • Track project timelines, deliverables, milestones, and status updates.
  • Conduct research and gather information to support project planning and decision-making.
  • Support project-related communications, follow-up activities, and documentation management.
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling, calendar management, and meeting coordination.
  • Prepare meeting materials, presentations, reports, correspondence, and briefing documents.
  • Maintain organized digital filing systems and accurate records.
  • Record meeting notes and track action items to support timely follow-up.
  • Coordinate meetings with internal departments, community partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with logistics for workshops, events, meetings, and special projects.
  • Support communications, information sharing, and process improvement initiatives across departments.
  • Handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
