Job summary

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is seeking a Temporary Educational Assistant to support students with special needs in both individual and group settings. This full-time 1.0 FTE position runs for ten months, 35 hours per week, with start date November 30, 2026.

The role involves assisting with classroom activities, implementing Individualized Education Plans, and collaborating with teachers.

Qualifications

Post-secondary Educational Assistant program (normally one year) or equivalent, plus minimum of one year experience with children.
Basic knowledge of computer software.
Ability to perform required physical tasks (e.g., toileting and lifting).

Responsibilities

Assist in delivering a prescribed program for special needs students in individual and group settings.
Aid children in transitions from home to school and act as liaison between students and teacher.
Attend meetings and take notes; assist in lesson or project delivery under teacher direction.
Assist with individualized education plans and observe/report on student development and behaviours.
Support teachers with routine classroom tasks and field trips as required.
General classroom tasks: copies, displays, materials prep, cleanup, supplies ordering, tech setup.
