Job summary

New Frontiers School Board is seeking a Special Education Technician to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in applying individualized education plans for students with special needs or learning difficulties. You will organize activities and provide reading and writing support while promoting a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

The role involves crisis intervention, behavior coaching, and maintaining student records, with emphasis on teamwork and effective communication with teachers

Qualifications

• : Hold a Diploma of College Studies in special care counseling or an equivalent document.
• : Experience with IEPs and working with students with special needs.
• : Ability to work with teaching staff and pedagogy and handle challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Develop and draw up an individualized education plan with the multidisciplinary team.
• Organize and conduct educational, cultural, recreational and sports activities to develop skills.
• Assist students with reading, writing and homework and provide explanations.
• Support a positive learning environment and apply crisis intervention techniques.
• Record observations and interventions and prepare student reports.
• Coordinate with staff and parents to reintegrate students into the classroom.
