Job summary

The New Frontiers School Board seeks a Special Education Technician to support students with special needs within a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on implementing individualized education plans and providing targeted educational support to help students achieve learning goals.

You'll assist with classroom activities, record observations, and coordinate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a conducive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Hold a Diploma of College Studies in special care counseling or equivalent.
• Experience with students with special needs and creation of IEPs.
• Bilingual with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with teaching staff.
• Knowledge of intervention with challenging behaviors; computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and draw up individualized education plans with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide educational, pedagogical, cultural, and recreational support to students.
• Assist with crisis intervention and behavior modification approaches.
• Coordinate with staff to organize practicums and supervise student activities.
• Record observations, prepare reports, and provide referrals when needed.
