Job summary

New Frontiers School Board is seeking a Replacement Bank - On Call Special Education Technician to work with a multidisciplinary team to support students with special needs according to individualized education plans.

You will help develop and implement IEPs, conduct educational and recreational activities, assist with learning tasks, and provide behavior support and crisis intervention alongside teachers and other staff.

Qualifications

• Holds a Diploma of College Studies in special care counseling or an equivalent credential.
• Experience working with students with special needs and creation of IEPs.
• Experience collaborating with teaching staff and applying pedagogy.
• Knowledge of intervention strategies for challenging behaviors.
• Computer skills and ability to use school software.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual; team player.

Responsibilities

• Develop and draw up individualized education plans with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide educational, cultural, recreational, and sports activities to develop skills.
• Assist students with reading, writing, lessons and homework as needed.
• Support teachers and coordinate learning activities and practicum supervision.
• Inform and advise students and parents; maintain relevant records and reports.
