Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Process Operator for rotating shifts in the Production Department in Ontario. The role involves central control room duties and plant-floor operations to ensure safe and efficient equipment performance.

Responsibilities include monitoring and adjusting process parameters, maintaining throughput, and documenting shift activities. Overtime may be required during the week and on weekends. A focus on safety and environmental compliance is essential.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience with heavy equipment in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to understand basics of flow, steam pressure, temperature and heating, and mechanical forces.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate rendering/Equacooker system safely and efficiently.
  • Follow established operating procedures and SOPs.
  • Monitor processes and adjust to maintain control over production rates, pressures, temperatures, and residence time.
  • Maximize throughput while preventing plugs, spills, equipment damage or safety/environmental risk.
  • Record shift activities, incidents, production data, and maintenance issues.
  • Communicate operational information at shift changes via logs/reports.

Positon Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION

The Process Operator is a rotating shift work position in the Production Department. The operator is required to perform central control room work primarily performs plant floor work as required to maintain good equipment operation.

Shift Schedule
  • Monday to Friday - Days
  • Tuesday to Saturday - Days
  • Monday to Friday - Afternoons
  • Monday to Friday - Nights
OVERTIME DURING THE WEEK AND WEEKENDS WILL BE REQUIRED AS NECESSARY
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally sound operation of the rendering/Equacooker system.
  • Follow established operating practices and standard operating procedures
  • Responsible for continuously monitoring and making appropriate corrective adjustments as required to maintain the processes under control e.g. production rates, flow rates, levels, temperatures and steam heating, pressures, residence time, etc.
  • Responsible for maximizing process throughput and operating the equipment as intended without causing material plugs and spills, damage to equipment, causing a risk to health and safety, or negatively impacting the environment
  • Responsible for reporting and recording all shift activities, events, reportable incidents, production information, maintenance issues, and other data as required (e.g. Shift Report/Log, production/process statistics, inventory sheets, maintenance work requests, HACCP records)
  • Responsible for communicating all relevant operational information at shift change directly or otherwise through logs and reports etc.
  • Provide shift coverage backup for holidays, vacation, sick days, or other absences
  • Maintain good housekeeping in work area
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience And Qualifications
  • 1 years' experience with heavy equipment in a continuous manufacturing process environment.
  • Capable of understanding basic physical principles related to flow, steam pressure, temperature and heating, and linear and rotational mechanical forces.
  • Must be available and flexible to work shifts as required
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
