Job summary

MDA Space in Montreal seeks a Material & Processes Specialist to join its Satellite Systems team. You will support design, manufacturing, production and quality to select, validate and qualify materials and processes for space applications.

The role requires 5+ years in material selection or aerospace manufacturing, strong knowledge of ECSS, NASA-STD, ASTM standards, and the ability to work across design, production and suppliers, with security clearance and CGP involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, material science, mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years in material selection, process engineering or aerospace manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ECSS, NASA-STD, ASTM or equivalent standards.

Responsibilities

• Select, evaluate, and document materials for space systems (metals, polymers, composites, adhesives, coatings).
• Verify material and process compliance with ECSS, NASA-STD, ASTM, MIL-STD standards.
• Contribute to qualification of special processes and development of manufacturing processes (bonding, surface treatments, coatings, assemblies).
• Support validation, testing, investigations, root-cause analysis, non-conformance reviews, corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design, production, quality, integration and suppliers to integrate M&P constraints into solutions.
