Job summary

MDA Space is seeking an Automation Engineer for our Satellite Systems team in Montreal. You will collaborate with engineers to manufacture space products, ensure quality from design through testing, and continuously improve production processes on a dynamic line.

You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, contribute to automation and DFA initiatives, and engage with project teams to meet schedules and budgets in a security-conscious setting.

Qualifications

• Engineering bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
• Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).
• Knowledge of programming languages (Python, C#, SQL, C++, Java, VB.NET) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manufacture space products.
• Oversee assembly, integration and testing across production lines.
• Develop and link ERP/MES to production data for Industry 4.0 initiatives.
• Program PCs, PLCs and controller systems for new or enhanced systems.
• Create electrical/pneumatic plans and select hardware for improvements.
• Write operating procedures and maintenance plans for automated equipment.
