Job Description - Sous Chef - Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel and Suites (HOT0BMC9)

Located directly opposite the Toronto-Pearson International Airport, this property offers a perfect opportunity for a culinary professional to hone their leadership and culinary skills.

This position will oversee a team of around 50 cooks/stewards. In this role, you will manage Mosaic Kitchen, Bar & Lounge, Banquets, and In-Room Dining, servicing 15 meeting rooms with 2,000 square feet of meeting space. The ideal candidate will have strong hotel outlet culinary experience and be a hands-on leader with good communication skills.

What will I be doing?

A Sous Chef works closely with the Executive Chef to manage kitchen operations, ensuring an excellent Guest and Member experience. Responsibilities include managing food provisions, assisting with guest queries, and controlling costs. Specific tasks include:

  • Managing all aspects of the kitchen, including operational, quality, and administrative functions
  • Ensuring food provision to outlets complies with legislation
  • Responding to guest queries promptly and effectively
  • Maintaining food quality and proper storage
  • Contributing to menu creation based on guest feedback
  • Ensuring consistent high-quality food production across outlets
  • Managing customer relations in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Managing resources and staff rotations efficiently
  • Supporting brand standards through team training and assessment
  • Leading the kitchen team to ensure organization and motivation
  • Controlling costs to meet financial targets without compromising standards
  • Supporting other departments and maintaining good relationships
  • Complying with security, fire, health, and food safety regulations
  • Reporting maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues
  • Being environmentally conscious
