Job Description - Sous Chef - Hilton Toronto Airport Hotel and Suites (HOT0BMC9)

Located directly opposite the Toronto-Pearson International Airport, this property offers a perfect opportunity for a culinary professional to hone their leadership and culinary skills.

This position will oversee a team of around 50 cooks/stewards while operating 2 outlets and servicing 15 meeting rooms with 2,000 square feet of meeting space. The ideal candidate will have strong hotel outlet culinary experience and be a hands-on leader with good communication skills.

What will I be doing?

A Sous Chef works closely with the Executive Chef to manage kitchen operations and deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. Responsibilities include managing food provisions, assisting with guest queries, and controlling costs. Specific tasks include:

  • Managing all aspects of the kitchen including operational, quality, and administrative functions.
  • Ensuring food provision to outlets complies with legislation.
  • Addressing guest queries promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintaining food quality and storage standards.
  • Contributing to menu creation based on guest feedback.
  • Ensuring high-quality food production across all outlets.
  • Managing customer relations in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Managing resources effectively through work rotations.
  • Supporting brand standards via team training and assessment.
  • Leading the kitchen team to ensure organization and motivation.
  • Controlling costs while maintaining standards to improve profitability.
  • Collaborating with other departments and maintaining good relationships.
  • Adhering to security, fire, health, safety, and food safety regulations.
  • Reporting maintenance, hygiene, and hazard issues.
  • Being environmentally conscious.
