Job summary

Recruiting In Motion - Eastern Ontario is assisting a Vaughan-based distribution company in finding a Purchaser to support purchasing, supplier relationships and product sourcing. The role can suit a developing buyer or an experienced candidate with a strong track record of negotiating and delivering results.

Responsibilities include purchasing, supplier negotiations, vendor relations and inventory coordination.

Qualifications

• Previous purchasing, buying or procurement experience.
• Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills.
• Confident, outgoing and comfortable building relationships.
• Eager to learn and open to training.
• Organized and able to manage multiple purchasing priorities.
• Strong communication and follow-up skills.
• Stable employment history.
• Food distribution, grocery or consumer-products experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Purchase products and materials based on business requirements
• Negotiate pricing, terms and delivery schedules with suppliers
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment
• Research new products, suppliers and purchasing opportunities
• Review pricing, availability and market conditions
• Resolve supplier, delivery and product-quality concerns
• Work closely with management, sales and warehouse teams
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve purchasing results
