Job Description

This is a temporary full-time position up to approximately nine (9) months.

Is this you?

Your proficiency in time management, communication, and problem-solving is essential. You will conduct neonatal ultrasounds for NICU patients, perform bowel ultrasounds for inflammatory bowel disease, and carry out pelvic ultrasounds for endometriosis mapping under radiologist supervision.

You approach patients with compassion and respect, work independently, and foster a team environment. Your ability to work seamlessly with sonographers and radiologists in a teaching hospital setting is vital. You will perform urgent scans and participate in research projects, contributing to medical imaging advancements.

About this team

The Ultrasound departments provide a state-of-the-art setting for clinical practice, teaching, and research. The main department operates 24/7, handling a high volume of diverse ultrasound exams for various patient populations. The general ultrasound department has eight exam rooms and two portable units, while the obstetrical ultrasound department has 13 exam rooms, performing approximately 50,000 exams annually.

In this role you will:
  • Perform obstetrical/gynecological, abdominal, vascular, small parts, and neonatal ultrasound procedures
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain ultrasound and imaging equipment
  • Prepare reports documenting procedures and results
  • Participate in teaching, research, safety, and quality improvement activities
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Completion of an accredited Ultrasound program or recognized equivalent; current enrollment in such a program considered if completed within six months of hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Level II certification
  • Registered with Sonography Canada (CRGS designation)
  • Registered with College of Medical Radiation & Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • One year recent related experience
  • Maintained CME credits
  • Certification and credentials as required (e.g., Nuchal Translucency)

Preferred:

  • Registered with ARDMS in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB)
  • Experience in vascular, neurosonography, and fetal assessment modalities
Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to train in various ultrasound examinations and procedures
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team and fast-paced environment
  • Work accurately under stress
  • Effective communication and sensitivity in patient interactions
