You possess strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills essential for coordinating complex tasks. You will conduct neonatal ultrasounds for NICU patients, perform specialized bowel ultrasounds for inflammatory bowel disease, and carry out pelvic ultrasounds for endometriosis mapping under radiologist supervision.

You demonstrate a compassionate approach with patients and can work independently while fostering teamwork.

Your ability to work seamlessly with sonographers and radiologists in a teaching hospital environment is crucial. Your efforts will support urgent scans, research projects, and contribute to advancing medical imaging.

About this team

The Ultrasound departments provide a state-of-the-art setting for clinical practice, teaching, and research. Operating 24/7, the main department handles a high volume of diverse exams, serving emergency, outpatient, and inpatient populations. The general ultrasound department has eight exam rooms and two portable units; the obstetrical ultrasound department has 13 exam rooms, performing approximately 50,000 exams annually.

Responsibilities
  • Perform obstetrical/gynecological, abdominal, vascular, small parts, and neonatal ultrasounds
  • Operate and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Document procedures and test results in written and electronic reports
  • Participate in teaching, research, safety, and quality improvement activities
  • Perform cross-functional responsibilities as needed
  • Carry out other patient care duties as assigned
Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Completion of an accredited ultrasound program or recognized equivalent; recent enrollment considered with completion within six months of hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Level II certification
  • Registered with Sonography Canada (CRGS designation)
  • Registered with College of Medical Radiation & Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • At least 1 year of recent related experience
  • Maintained Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits
  • Certification and credentials as required (e.g., Nuchal Translucency)

Preferred:

  • Registration with ARDMS in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB)
  • Experience in vascular, neurosonography, and fetal assessment modalities
Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to train in various ultrasound examinations and procedures
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective multitasking and teamwork in a fast-paced environment
  • Accuracy under stressful conditions
