Job summary

Paradigm Solar in Canada is hiring a Solar Installer/Labourer to support grid-connected and off-grid solar PV projects in the Smithers and Witset area. You will work with electricians, project leaders, and crews to install, maintain, and troubleshoot residential and commercial solar systems.

Ideal candidates have first-year electrical apprenticeship training, hands-on solar or construction background, and Fall Protection certification.

Qualifications

• Completion of first-year electrical apprenticeship training and associated workplace hours; second-year completion preferred.
• Experience in solar installation, electrical work, construction, or related hands-on trades.
• Practical understanding of electrical systems, wiring, solar technology, and safe work practices.
• Fall Protection Certification and comfort working outdoors at heights.
• Ability to perform physical installation tasks, including lifting and carrying materials.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, communication skills, and team attitude.

Responsibilities

• Support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of grid-connected and off-grid solar systems per project specs and safety rules.
• Install and secure solar panels on rooftops and ground-mounted structures based on design and site conditions.
• Assist with DC and AC electrical work, including wiring, inverters, grounding, and system connections.
• Support installation and integration of battery storage systems for backup and energy management.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely, maintain orderly work areas, and follow site plans.
• Read drawings and manufacturer requirements and adhere to site work plans.
• Collaborate with electricians, engineers, project managers, and crews to keep projects moving.
• Maintain records of installation activities, service work, materials, and equipment.
• Communicate professionally with clients and explain basic system operation and maintenance.
