Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Software Engineer for the Securities Finance (SecFi) backend. You will design and operate systems powering lending, borrowing, and related broker-dealer infrastructure, with a focus on reliability and scale.

You’ll work on FPSL and short borrowing workflows, own end-to-end delivery, and drive improvements across data flows, APIs, and batch processing in a production environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building distributed systems that actually run in production
• Solid fundamentals in computers, networks, databases, and distributed systems
• Productive in Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes
• Design a good RESTful API and recognize bad ones
• Experience with broker-dealer operations or securities finance is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own a project from initial discussion to production runtime
• Build systems enabling new products and revenue from APIs to batch pipelines
• Improve existing systems, delivering noticeable improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship reliable features
• Lend support on-call duties and address root causes, not symptoms
• Contribute to the security and reliability of brokerage infrastructure
