Job summary

British Columbia Investment Management Corporation seeks a Software Engineer Co-op/Intern to support the Enterprise Solutions team and internal clients in Victoria, BC. You will develop and enhance applications, analyze problems, and translate requirements into technical specifications.

This in-person term offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment at one of Canada's largest institutional investors, with opportunities to work on varied technology projects and collaborate with finance

Qualifications

• University-level CS or related coursework.
• Analytical and design experience with programming tools/techniques.
• Technical writing skills and documentation ability.
• Familiar with Git or other source control tools.
• Ability to create workflow diagrams and flowcharts.
• Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
• Agile methodologies are an asset.
• Finance and capital markets knowledge is desirable.
• Strong team player with communication and customer service focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide analytical and programming support for new apps and enhancements.
• Resolve day-to-day problems on complex systems across platforms.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and designs.
• Present system solutions to clients with documentation for consensus.
• Assist in change control, testing, and deployment processes.
• Contribute to project work and training on new procedures.
