Job summary

Hammond Power Solutions (HPS) is seeking a Software Developer, Data and AI—12 month contract, to design, develop and maintain enterprise data solutions supporting operations and strategic decisions. You will contribute to AI lifecycle activities including data prep, model implementation, deployment and support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in CS/Data Science/AI.
• 2+ years of SQL and ETL design experience for large datasets.
• Experience with AI/ML tech including LLM, vector databases and AI agents.
• Experience with Azure Data services, Synapse, App Service and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C#/Java for data/AI projects.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end data solutions, data warehouses, data marts and semantic layers.
• Lead modernization and cloud migration of legacy warehouses and pipelines.
• Ensure data quality, lineage and observability across pipelines and models.
• Design and deliver BI dashboards and self-service reports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Develop scalable, secure software and participate in code reviews.

We currently have an opening for a Software Developer, Data and AI– 12 month contract, come grow with us!

Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, this role designs, develops and maintains enterprise data solutions that support business operations and strategic decision-making, including data solution architecture, integration and transformation. The incumbent also contributes to AI project lifecycle activities - data preparation, model implementation, deployment, and ongoing support - while building scalable, cloud-ready software applications.

Working closely with business stakeholders across departments, this role gathers requirements, implements and delivers data and AI-driven solutions, and ensures effective knowledge transfer through user training and support.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Design end-to-end data solutions (data models, data warehouse, data marts, semantic layers and OLAP cubes) to support analytics, reporting and AI use cases.
• Implement modernization and cloud migration for legacy warehouses and pipelines
• Ensure data quality, lineage and observability across pipelines and models;
• Design and deliver BI dashboards, self-service reports.
• Document architecture, data flows and data definitions to support maintainability
• Collaborate on AI/ML project design; translate business problems into data and modeling requirements.
• Prepare datasets: cleaning, enrichment and feature engineering
• Assist with model integration, deployment, monitoring and retraining procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Efficiently leverage AI-powered coding assistants to develop and deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Create and maintain efficient, scalable, and secure code.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Streamline business processes by creating seamless data flows.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to existing data systems and software applications.

Do you qualify? We are seeking:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years’ professional experience in SQL and ETL design, with solid understanding dimensional modelling and data warehousing concepts, ensuring efficient storage, retrieval and analysis of large datasets.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies including: LLM, Prompt Engineering, Vector Databases, AI Agents, Agentic AI, AI-powered coding, and MCP.
• Prior experience in Azure Technologies such as Data Fabric, Synapse, ADFS, App Service, CI/CD pipeline and Power BI.
• AI-powered programming experience with Python, C or C#.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for software development.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

At the company (HPS), we provide market‑competitive compensation that reflects performance, skills, and current market conditions. For this role, the base salary range is $96,800.00 to $145,200.00 with final offers determined by experience, qualifications, and role complexity.
