Job summary

Ross Video in Ottawa is seeking a Software Developer to join the Ross Platform Manager team, contributing to licensing, orchestration, and RBAC, and migrating the solution to a modern React framework.

You will work in an Agile environment, gain exposure to cloud technologies in an AWS context, and collaborate with a small team from home with occasional on-site days at the Ottawa Campus.

Ideal candidates are CS students with Java and web tech experience, and a passion for shipping products.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Computer Science or a similar academic program.
• Experience with Java is a must.
• Experience with web technologies like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Experience with front-end libraries and frameworks like React, Redux, and RxJS.
• Experience with writing unit tests and using testing frameworks like Jest is highly valued.
• Experience with tools and applications like npm, webpack, babel and NodeJS is an asset.
• Experience with GitHub and GitLab is an asset.
• Experience or familiarity with the Agile methodology.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Reporting to the Software Manager, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team. You will gain exposure and relevant experience in the IT industry as a Software Developer, working on the existing enterprise solution known as the Ross Platform Manager; a gateway to consolidating all Ross product solutions. Features you’ll work on include licensing, orchestration, role-based access control, DashBoard custom panel rendering in a web browser, and the migration of our existing solution to a modern framework, React. You will participate in an Agile team, working alongside your colleagues to design, develop and implement enterprise-grade solutions while learning about how to become a better developer though the awareness and detection of code smells, design patterns, and industry best practices.

This position is primarily remote (work from home) with the occasional on-site day located at our Ottawa Campus in Nepean. Our pay rates range from $24 - $35 per hour, based on experience.

WHAT YOU KNOW
