Job summary

Ross Video is seeking a Software Developer to contribute to the Ross Platform Manager, a gateway to consolidating Ross product solutions. You will participate in an Agile team, improve licensing/orchestration features, and help migrate the UI to a modern React-based framework.

You will gain exposure to cloud technologies, front-end development, and best practices while collaborating with teammates on shipping enterprise-grade software from our Ottawa-area campus.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Computer Science or a related program.
• Experience with HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
• Experience with React, Redux and RxJS.
• Experience with writing unit tests and Jest.
• Experience with npm, vite and NodeJS is an asset.
• Experience with GitLab is an asset.
• Experience with AWS, Terraform/OpenTofu, Kubernetes and Helm.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Reporting to the Software Manager, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team. You will gain exposure and relevant experience in the IT industry as a Software Developer, working on the existing enterprise solution known as the Ross Platform Manager; a gateway to consolidating all Ross product solutions. Features you’ll work on include licensing, orchestration, role-based access control, DashBoard custom panel rendering in a web browser, and the migration of our existing solution to a modern framework, React. You will participate in an Agile team, working alongside your colleagues to design, develop and implement enterprise-grade solutions while learning about how to become a better developer though the awareness and detection of code smells, design patterns, and industry best practices.

This position is primarily remote (work from home) with the occasional on-site day located at our Ottawa Campus in Nepean. Our pay rates range from $24 - $35 per hour, based on experience.

WHAT YOU KNOW

• Currently enrolled in Computer Science or a similar academic program.
• Experience with web technologies like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Experience with front-end libraries and frameworks like React, Redux, and RxJS.
• Experience with writing unit tests and using testing frameworks like Jest is highly valued.
• Experience with tools and applications like npm, vite, and NodeJS is an asset.
• Experience with GitLab is an asset.
• Experience with AWS, Terraform (or openTofu), Kubernetes, and Helm is an asset
• Experience or familiarity with the Agile methodology.
