This role manages the Child Welfare Services Division’s Child Protective Services Unit, overseeing staff including supervisors, social workers, and clerical staff. Responsibilities include conducting program assessments, developing monitoring mechanisms, providing training, ensuring policy compliance, and assisting with budget planning. The position requires at least one week of after-hours coverage per month, attendance at meetings, court sessions, and community events as the lead of child protective services. Additional duties may be assigned to ensure effective management of services.
Position Preference: Applicants with a master’s degree in social work or human services are preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and effective communication with diverse clients are required. All staff must be available to staff emergency shelters during disasters and possess a valid driver’s license in North Carolina.
The salary range is $60,086 to $76,083. Halifax County offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in the N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System.
