Job summary

Manning Park Resort in British Columbia is seeking a Ski Instructor to join our Snow School team for the winter season (Nov–Apr). You will instruct guests of all ages and abilities, ensuring safe, engaging lessons and promoting alpine safety.

Responsibilities include lesson planning, on-hill tasks, equipment setup and safety, and assisting guests with rentals, passes and information. Weekend and holiday work is required, and staff housing is available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum level 1 or higher Canadian Snowboard Instructor Certification or equivalent.
  • Dual certification is an asset.
  • Intermediate ski/snowboard ability.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Weekend & holidays work required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Approachable, dependable and a strong team player.
  • Excellent physical condition; outdoor work in adverse weather.
  • Knowledge of Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Previous ski hill knowledge an asset.
  • POS experience an asset.
  • Must have own equipment.
  • Seasonal position for full Winter Season (Nov–Apr).

  • Provide safe learning environments in all lessons.
  • Assess students’ ability and place them in appropriate groups.
  • Set up and take down lesson equipment.
  • Set up and take down crowd control measures and snow school signage.
  • Assist Snow School Supervisor in lesson planning.
  • Teach and reinforce the Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Perform on-hill tasks and maintenance as required.
  • Assist guests with products & services; in-person, by phone, and by e-mail.
  • Provide guests with information regarding Alpine Services and Manning Park Resort.
  • Prepare guest orders for rentals, lessons and lift tickets; process payments.
  • Distribute pre-purchased rentals & tickets and register Snow School participants.
  • Adjust rental equipment to meet customer needs.
  • Tune and repair guest equipment as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment and sanitize facilities.
  • Shovel snow and maintain clear area around AGS Building.
  • Follow policies to resolve guest issues.
  • Assist in marketing, promotions and sales of ski school, group bookings, season passes and/or day tickets.
  • Other tasks as required.

We are presently searching for our next great team member as a Ski Instructor to join our Snow School team. If you can provide our guests with an amazing experience, combined with working as an energetic part of our resort, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include: (but not limited to)
  • Instruct and coach guests of all ages and abilities to ski within your instructor's certification level in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Provide safe learning environments in all lessons.
  • Properly assess students of their ability and place them in the appropriate groups.
  • Set up and take down lesson equipment.
  • Set up and take down crowd control measures and snow school signage.
  • Assist Snow School Supervisor in lesson planning.
  • Adherence and teaching of the Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • General on hill tasks and maintenance as required.
  • Assist guests with products & services; in-person, by phone, and by e-mail.
  • Provide guests with accurate information regarding Alpine Services and Manning Park Resort.
  • Prepare guest orders of rental equipment, snow school lessons, and/or lift tickets; processing payments through point-of-sale system.
  • Distributing pre-purchased rentals & tickets and registering Snow School participants.
  • Tech and adjust the rental equipment to meet specific customer needs.
  • Tuning and repairs of Guest Alpine Equipment and rental equipment when required.
  • Maintain a safe & clean environment for guests and colleagues at all times, including cleaning washrooms, cleaning floors and keeping the Alpine Guest Services Building sanitized.
  • Shoveling snow and maintaining a clear and ice-free environment around the AGS Building.
  • Follow outlined policies to find solutions to guests' issues.
  • Assist in the marketing, promotion and sales of Manning Park Resort products (ski school, group bookings, season passes and/or day tickets).
  • Other tasks as required.
Job Requirements / Qualifications
  • Minimum level 1 or higher of Canadian recognized Snowboard Instructor Certification or equivalent. (An additional $2/hr is paid for each additional certification level & an additional $1/hr is paid for a dual certified instructor per level)
  • Dual certification is an asset.
  • A minimum of intermediate ski/snowboard ability
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Will be required to work Weekends & Holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be approachable, dependable and a strong team player
  • Excellent physical condition; Able to work in outdoor, adverse weather conditions and perform manual labor
  • Knowledge of the Alpine Responsibility Code
  • Previous knowledge of the ski hill is an asset
  • Previous use of a Point of Sales System is an asset.
  • Must have own equipment
  • This is a Seasonal Position, so you must be able to commit to the role for the full Winter Season (November-April). As a seasonal team member, you may be presented with opportunities to cross train and support in other departments to meet seasonal demands.
