Job summary

Manning Park Resort in British Columbia is seeking a passionate and self-motivated Assistant Alpine Manager to lead alpine operations across winter and summer seasons. The role reports to the Operations Manager and works with the Assistant Parks Manager, overseeing lift operations, staff scheduling, safety checks, and incident response.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in lift operations, a valid first aid certificate and a full driver's license, and is comfortable training staff to BC Safety

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience with above-ground and surface lifts
  • Ability to motivate staff during difficult conditions
  • Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience dealing with challenging guests
  • First Aid Certification is required or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the daily operations of a ski-hill and associated operations
  • Working alongside the Operations Manager on all Alpine related activities
  • Ensuring proper hiring, scheduling, and oversight of Lift Operations, Grounds, Parking, Patrol, and Grooming.
  • Completing daily safety checks and opening procedures for all lifts
  • Training staff to BC Safety Authority standards, and ensuring all associated policies and procedures meet Z-98 guidelines and CWSAA best practices.
  • Assisting the Lead Lift Mechanic with maintenance, and helping to ensure all maintenance items are recorded and up to date.
  • Ensuring the safe operation of above-ground and surface lifts, including Chairlifts, T-Bar, Handle Tow, and conveyor.
  • Overseeing the Ski-Patrol operations
  • Conducting investigations for all lift-related incidents and reporting findings to BC Safety Authority
  • Acting as an Incident Commander for responses to hill-related emergencies
  • Coordinating operations with all Resort-Area managers and staff
  • Conducting employee recruitment, reviews, and overseeing progressive discipline items
  • Working with the Assistant Parks Manager to oversee Camping and Park operations in the summer months.

Manning Park Resort is seeking a passionate and self‑motivated Assistant Alpine Manager. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about outdoor recreation and enjoys working in a family‑friendly resort environment.

The Assistant Alpine Manager supports the day‑to‑day operations of the Alpine area during both the winter season and summer maintenance period. This role reports to the Operations Manager and works closely with the Assistant Parks Manager.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Ski Area Resort Management diploma is an asset.
  • 3+ years experience with above-ground and surface lifts is required, including knowledge of:
  • Z-98 manual and policies
  • Chairlifts, T-Bars, Handle Tows, Conveyors
  • Experience training on lifts (Lift 150 – Train the Trainer Course)
  • 2+ years’ experience supervising or managing seasonal employees is required.
  • Ability to motivate staff during difficult conditions.
  • Ability to problem-solve in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience and comfort in dealing with challenging guests.
  • First Aid Certification is required or willingness to obtain.
  • Full Driver’s License is required.
  • Clear background check is required.
  • Groomer or Patrol experience is an asset.
  • Trades experience is an asset.
  • Experience in park operations, or with BC Parks an asset.
