SmartWorks Job Opening: Project Manager

SmartWorks is seeking a Project Manager to join their team. The Project Manager is responsible for driving customer projects forward to achieve milestones and manage project scope while ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction. The Project Manager is responsible for managing project resource assignments, project profitability, timely realization of revenue, and maintaining an expected level of billable utilization for themselves and consultants. Additionally, the Project Manager will collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) Manager to improve the organization’s project delivery processes in terms of consistency, predictability, and efficiency.

As a Project Manager, you may be required to travel throughout North America approximately 25% of the year, when it is safe and appropriate. When not traveling, you can work remotely from home or from our headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, depending on your preference.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate closely with the Customer Project Manager to ensure the successful completion of software implementation projects.
2. Develop, negotiate, and finalize Statements of Work to optimize the delivery of SmartWorks solutions for both new and existing customers.
3. Manage client expectations consistently and ensure the delivery of high-quality service.
4. Oversee the execution of multiple solution implementation work streams; occasionally lead parts of the execution.
5. Facilitate client kick-off meetings, customer functionality workshops, and regular status update meetings.
6. Create project deliverables, including acceptance criteria, training plans, testing plans, and change requests.
7. Mentor team members and contribute to the ongoing development of the Project Management Methodology.
8. Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate results and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement.
9. Report on project forecasts and financials to senior management regularly.
10. Handle project administration tasks such as expense approval, timesheet review, project updates, and invoice processing.
11. Coordinate with other departments and third-party vendors.
