Job summary

Dexter Construction Company is seeking a Slip Form Paver Operator for our Bedford, NS project site. You will operate a Slip Form Paver to lay concrete roads, barriers and curbs, and you will adjust molds, sensors, and paving speeds to meet project plans.

Ideal candidates have 1-3 years of concrete form work and finishing experience, a solid understanding of site safety, and the ability to work well in a team under supervision. This role emphasizes safe operation and adherence to company policies.

• Experience operating a Slip Form Paver would be an asset.
• 1-3 years concrete form work and finishing experience.
• Follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisor.
• Willingness to work in a team environment.

Dexter Construction Company is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently looking for a Slip Form Paver Operator to join our Bedford, NS operations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate a Slip Form Paver to build concrete roads, barriers and curbs
• Prepare and adjust the paver's molds and sensors to match project plans
• Adjust paving speeds and vibration settings to prevent gaps or uneven surfaces in the concrete
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance and ensures that the machine is in safe proper working order
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
• Ensure safety of fellow employees
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

• Experience operating a Slip Form Paver would be an asset
• 1-3 years concrete form work and finishing experience
• Must be well versed in construction site protocols, rules and code of conduct
• Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action
• Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisor
• Willingness to work in a team environment
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly
