Job summary

Dexter Construction in St. John's, NL is seeking Construction Labourers to support heavy civil projects across the Atlantic Provinces. You will perform formwork tasks, assist with sidewalk and curb work, and aid in maintaining safety on busy sites.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of relevant experience, can follow supervision, and communicates effectively with crew. A comprehensive pension and benefits package is offered, and there are opportunities for advancement and training.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ experience in a similar position preferred.
• Familiar with construction site protocols and safety rules.
• Ability to work independently with good judgment.
• Strong teamwork and communication with supervisors.
• Must be physically capable of daily tasks and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform formwork tasks including sidewalks, curb and gutter work, and retaining walls.
• Profile walks, curbs, gutters, medians, swales, and driveway crossings.
• Operate hand tools, floats, cutters, and edgers.
• Maintain a safe work environment following safety policies.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Dexter Construction is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces and we are currently seeking Construction Labourers in St. John’s, NFLD.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• All types of formwork including sidewalks, curb and gutter work and retaining walls
• Profiling walks, curbs and gutters, median curbs, swales and driveway crossings
• Able to use hand tools, floats, cutters and edger’s
• Must be physically able to complete daily tasks
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
• Ensure safety of fellow employees
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience

• Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisor
• Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position
• Must be well versed in construction site protocols, rules and code of conduct
• Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action
• Willingness to work in a team environment
• Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly
• Working safely is a condition of employment.
