Job summary

Catalent is seeking a Skilled Trades specialist in Strathroy, Ontario, to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on production equipment. You will ensure compliance with quality standards and maintain a safe work environment, working 12-hour continental shifts on site.

The role involves preventive maintenance, calibration tasks, and documentation to GMP standards. Prior trades training, licensure, and documentation skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Licensed by Ontario: 442A, 309A or Red Seal.
• Completion of Tradesman and Qualification Act requirements.
• Non-Canadian credentials require Canadian equivalency evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Perform assembly, disassembly, installation, repair, and fabrication tasks to maintain machinery and facilities.
• Diagnose mechanical and control issues and perform necessary corrections.
• Complete work orders, preventive maintenance, calibration forms, and validation documents.
• Update the CMMS with necessary information and run scheduled maintenance.
• Provide on-call support and assist on-site contractors as needed.

Strathroy, Ontario is one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Skilled Trades to join our team and support our mission to deliver life-enhancing products. In this role, you will perform maintenance and troubleshooting on production and supporting equipment. You will ensure compliance with quality standards and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. Shift: 12 hours rotating continental shifts (Days and Nights)

Location: Strathroy, ON

100% Onsite

The Role

• Perform assembly, disassembly, installation, repair, and fabrication tasks to maintain machinery, equipment, spare parts, tooling, and facilities based on technical documentation and standard practices.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and control issues, making necessary corrections, and conduct system support tasks such as fuse changes, contactor resets, and calibrations as trained.
• Ensure compliance with Preventive Maintenance, Standard Operating Procedures, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and regulatory requirements while updating the Computerized Maintenance Management System with necessary information.
• Complete documentation such as work orders, preventive maintenance, calibration forms, and validation documents to required standards.
• Execute assigned preventive maintenance and work orders on schedule.
• Support on-site contractors as necessary for preventive maintenance or project activity.
• Provide on-call support as scheduled.
• Maintain tools, toolboxes, and shop areas in compliance with standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or educational credential assessment is required.
• Licensed by Ministry of Skills and Development (442A, 309A, or Red Seal) is required.
• Completion of Tradesman and Qualification Act requirements.
• Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming Canadian equivalency as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada such as WES.
• Currently Catalent participates in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program on a limited basis.
• The role frequently involves sitting and using hands and fingers for handling, feeling, and keyboard manipulation, requiring manual dexterity.
• Occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, with close vision and potential exposure to chemicals.

Preferred Skills & Background

• Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures, with First Aid and CPR considered an asset.
• Proficient in using shop tools including lathe, mills, grinders, drill presses, precision measurement instruments, power tools, and technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints, as well as controllers, PLC and HMI, PID, calibration, and engineering drawings.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to manage change efficiently while staying organized and multitasking effectively.

Pay

The start hourly rate for this position is $45.20. Catalent is a global employer, and this compensation does not reflect positions that work in other countries.
