Job summary

Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre is seeking a Sous Chef to lead our fast-paced culinary team in a slope-side hotel. You will guide three kitchens—banquet, gastro-pub, and elevated dining—while upholding food production, safety, and menu execution.

This role offers internal and external advancement in the Tourism/Hospitality industry. The position emphasizes collaboration with F&B, teaching techniques, and delivering an elevated guest experience in a dynamic resort setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of culinary experience, preferably in a hotel or resort.
• 1 year of production and banquet experience is a plus.
• Pursuing a career in culinary arts with strong ambition.
• Red Seal or a degree in Culinary Arts is required.
• Food Safe Level 1 certification (Level 2 a plus).
• Solid understanding of kitchen operations and safety standards.
• Self-disciplined with a guest-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute menus for assigned kitchen outlet.
• Costing of menu and feature items in the outlet.
• Assist, lead, and coach monthly inventory counts.
• Oversee all aspects of food preparation and delivery.
• Create and implement standard recipes; ensure portion control.
• Train culinary team on recipes and procedures; ensure health and safety.
• Supervise cooks; ensure outlet meets department standards and opening/closing procedures.
• Maintain daily cooling records and report unsafe equipment.
• Coordinate front-of-house briefings for special requests and events.
