Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) seeks a Skating Program Monitor for an on-site Ontario location. Under the Recreation Supervisor, you will organize equipment setup, monitor participants, and ensure safety rules are followed during skating sessions.

Ideal candidates have some high school and related field experience, CPR and First Aid, and HIGH FIVE PHCD. Experience in skating or ice sports is preferred, with a focus on client care and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Some high school and some years of experience in a related field.
  • Current CPR and Current Basic First Aid certification.
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor public skating and enforce safety rules during sessions.
  • Set up and takedown skating equipment and facilities.
  • Interact with participants and assist during activities.
  • Monitor start and end times of skate programs and ensure compliance with rules.
  • Support a safe, inclusive environment for skaters of all ages.

THE ROLE

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Skating Program Monitor monitors public skating. They organize equipment setup and equipment takedown. They monitor and interact with participants during activities. They monitor the start and finish time of skate programs. They monitor participants and ensure the established safety rules are followed during the skating period.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
  • Some high school and some years of experience in a related field
  • Current CPR and Current Basic First Aid (formerly Emergency First Aid) level certification
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD)
Experience
  • In skating
  • In ice sports such as figure skating, hockey or ringette.
  • In behavior and patron management
Competencies
