Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) is seeking energetic recreation leaders to run programs across multiple formats including weekly classes and day camps.

You will mentor preschoolers to seniors, guiding arts, sports, fitness and outdoor activities while maintaining safety and inclusivity in all sessions.

Qualifications

  • CPR and Basic First Aid certifications required or must be obtained by end of probation.
  • HIGH FIVE PHCD, QUEST 1 & QUEST 2 certifications required by end of probation.
  • Experience with children and programming activities for children is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead arts and crafts, fitness and wellness, performing arts, sports and outdoor activities.
  • Design and implement recreational programs for diverse age groups.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment for participants and staff.
  • Collaborate with team to run weekly classes and day camps.

THE ROLE

Our recreation leaders work in multiple fun positions in various locations and program formats ranging from weekly classes to day camps. In each program, you will have the opportunity to lead activities that help our community members learn new skills and make social connections.

You will be working mainly with (preschoolers, children, youth, adults and seniors) in this position.

You will be leading (arts and crafts, fitness and wellness, performing arts, sports and outdoor adventure) activities.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
  • An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered
  • Current CPR and Current Basic First Aid (formerly Emergency First Aid) level certification
  • A valid driver’s license (Province), an asset
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) (successful completion by end of probation)
  • HIGH FIVE® QUEST 2 (successful completion by end of probation)
  • HIGH FIVE® QUEST 1 (successful completion by end of probation)
Experience
  • In working with children
  • In programming activities for children
  • In leading children in activities
  • In ensuring safety protocols and procedures
Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset

OTHER INFORMATION

Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50lbs/23 kg).

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
