Job summary

Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture team is seeking dedicated individuals to deliver high quality Skate Park programs for youth and the community. You will help set up activities, supervise participants, and support safety standards.

The position requires 2–4 years of skateboard or scooter riding experience, current First Aid, CPR-C, High Five certification, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends and events. Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work well with children, youth and adults.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and special events.
• Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public, participants, parents/guardians and staff.
• 2–4 years skateboard or scooter riding experience.
• Sport and recreation instruction experience is an asset.
• National Skateboard Certification Skate Program Level 1 or 2 an asset.
• Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and take down telMAX Indoor Skate Park equipment as needed and report issues.
• Develop lesson plans and evaluate progress and participation.
• Write and handout report cards outlining students’ accomplishments and recommendations.
• Monitor attendance and entry/exit of program participants.
• Supervise and maintain a safe environment and ensure safety equipment usage.
• Complete Incident/Accident reports and provide basic first aid when needed.
