Job summary

Bantrel Co. is hiring a Construction Safety Officer for the Ontario Line Subway project in Toronto, ON. This site-based role supports safe execution across multiple packages in a complex heavy civil environment.

You will work with contractors and the Integrated Project Team to ensure compliance with OHSA and contract requirements, identify hazards, and implement risk controls on active construction sites. This is a full-time temporary role for one year.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of on-site construction safety experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, or major projects.
• Experience supporting heavy civil, transportation, rail, or major infrastructure construction projects.
• Ontario OHSA Act knowledge and regulations with construction-specific experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams to develop Safe Work Procedures and ensure effective implementation for safe execution.
• Perform formal inspections and audits for OHSA compliance and contract requirements.
• Provide day-to-day on-site oversight of contractors to assess compliance and risk mitigation.
• Review site activities to protect workers, public, infrastructure, and operations.
• Collaborate with Integrated Project Team and stakeholders for consistent safety support.
• Review, analyze and outline construction activities to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
• Participate in incident investigations and follow-up actions to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist the Safety Director and team with additional tasks as required.
