Job summary

CGL in Canada is seeking a Site Reliability Specialist (SRS) to maintain highly reliable software systems. This hybrid, 12-month temporary full-time role focuses on monitoring, incident response, and tool development to ensure fast, stable user experiences. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in application support, proficiency in programming, and strong collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology or Computer Science with at least 3 years of experience in application support including development and operation.
• Knowledge in software engineering, with proficiency in one or more programminglanguages.
• Knowledge in system administration and managing production environments.
• Proficiency in using monitoring and logging tools to track system performance and discover errors.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams effectively.
• Guidewire certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system performance and availability, identify bottlenecks and points of failures, and take actions to rectify issues identified.
• Respond promptly to incidents following predefined plans and procedures.
• Analyze root causes of incidents following incident response plans.
• Prevent future occurrences of incidents by analyzing and fixing root causes.
• Build effective monitor and alerts to discover errors.
• Develop tools that monitor the Eco system and enable self-diagnosis.
• Adopt best practices, and continuously improve systems and processes to enhance reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with teams like Policy Fulfilment and business stakeholders to determine feasibility and troubleshoot issues.
• Work with external teams to integrate and optimize document services, providing assistance when needed.

The Site Reliability Specialist (SRS) is a specialized role within the field of software engineering that focuses on maintaining highly reliable and scalable software systems. SRAs execute tasks to maintain the health of the Eco system of the applications and services. These tasks also ensure the application operate smoothly and reliably with excellent user experience. This is an excellent opportunity to recent graduates.

How You Will Create Impact

• Monitor system performance and availability, identify bottlenecks and points of failures, and take actions to rectify issues identified.
• Respond promptly to incidents following predefined plans and procedures. It includes batch jobs, message queues, system integration components and end user reported incidents.
• Analyze root causes of incidents following incident response plans.
• Prevent future occurrences of incidents by analyzing and fixing root causes.
• Build effective monitor and alerts to discover errors.
• Using development tools to analyze root causes of problems.
• Develop tools that monitor the Eco system and enable self-diagnosis.
• Adopt best practices, and continuously improve systems and processes to enhance reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with teams like Policy Fulfilment and business stakeholders to determine feasibility and troubleshoot issues.
• Work with external teams (e.g., DCM, Kyndryl) to integrate and optimize document services, providing assistance when needed.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, adopt best practices, and continuously improve systems and processes to enhance reliability and performance.

Salary information

Expected salary range $60,574 to $100,956

Salary placement

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Incentive/Variable pay

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
