Job summary

National Research Council Canada (NRC) in Saskatoon invites applications for a Site Operations Coordinator within the Real Property Planning and Management Branch. The role centers on planning, contracting and coordinating the delivery of building services and general maintenance inside the facility.

You will assess equipment performance, troubleshoot issues and propose solutions while coordinating safety, environmental and health requirements and liaising with third-party contractors.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in a related technological or technical field such as architectural, electrical or mechanical.
  • A combination of a trade certification (Electrician, HVAC, Millwright, and Plumber) with the relevant experience would be considered.

The role

We are looking for a Site Operations Coordinator to support our Real Property Planning and Management Branch. The successful candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

As part of the Real Property Planning and Management (RPPM) Branch Operations and Maintenance unit, the Site Operations Coordinator is responsible for planning, contracting and coordinating the delivery of building services and general maintenance requirements within the building. The Site Operations Coordinator evaluates the performance of various building equipment and systems, troubleshoots problems and malfunctions, and proposes technical solutions.

The Site Operations Coordinator is also responsible to coordinate aspects of the security, environmental and safety and health requirements within the buildings in support of programs and business operations. The Site Operations Coordinator will report to a Site Operations Manager. The position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but does oversee and manage services provided by third party service providers.

Education

College diploma in a related technological or technical field such as architectural, electrical or mechanical.

A combination of a trade certification (Electrician, HVAC, Millwright, and Plumber) with the relevant experience would be considered.

Experience
  • Significant* experience in the coordination of activities related to building service delivery, maintenance, infrastructure support, property management.
  • Significant* experience in performance analysis and preventive maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Significant* experience in coordinating the on-site activities of contractors on multi-trade projects.
  • Experience reviewing plans, drawings, prepare preliminary sketches and estimates for renovations or modifications.
  • Significant* experience with the application of the related federal and provincial building codes, standards, acts, legislation and regulations.
  • Significant* experience in the coordination of construction projects (under 100k).
  • Significant experience is defined as two (2) to six (6) years of experience.

For a Reliability Status, verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical competencies
  • Solid ability to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and legislation as well as construction safety standards and practices.
  • Solid knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and electromechanical components, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of practices and procedures, equipment maintenance, and technical issues in various trades such as electrical, architectural, mechanical, and telecommunications.
  • Strong ability to coordinate and supervise technical interventions and the work of construction contractors, particularly during projects involving additions, renovations, equipment installation, and commissioning.
  • Ability to interpret technical plans and drawings, and to prepare sketches and preliminary estimates for renovation or modification projects.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.

Compensation

From $66,126 to $91,012 per annum.
