PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Manage overall site activities and P&L under responsibility of the Services North America with objective to deliver safety, quality, finance, production, supply chain and projects performances. A strategist and a leader who is able to steer the site to the most profitable direction while demonstrating accountability, ownership and also implementing global vision, mission and long-term goals. The goal is to ensure the company is constantly moving towards fulfilling its short-term and long-term objectives and does not diverge from its strategic guidelines.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. P&L accountability for site production, methods, supply chain, special processes, components repair center, tooling, testing & commissioning, IT, quality, and EHS
  2. Full growth mindset responsibility for the site restructuring and reorganization driving accountability, overachieve and can-do attitude in on-time profitable execution while managing directors/managers and heads of departments
  3. Relentlessly drives the site production, supply chain, adherence to schedules and continuous improvement for highly critical regional projects execution, according to contractual requirements and customer expectations, to maximize the results with respect to cash and margin whilst delivering on time, in conformity with Alstom execution processes including contracts variation orders
  4. Deliver on sales, orders, profit and cash as per agreed budget, supplemented by Customer and Project Directors for existing clients and Business Development for new clients. Ensure implementation of Transformation Program actions
  5. Deliver financial performance by controlling finance and maintaining an effective management team
  6. Accountability for the site Quality Cost Delivery Planning (QCDP) and Environment Health & Safety (EHS)
  7. Lead components manufacturing, reconditioning/refurbishment, shop floor set up, resources & footprint optimization, machines & fixtures set up and production readiness for new projects
  8. Lead the initiatives for operations, industrial, and cost optimization & recovery of non-core costs (& non-value added activities) through continuous improvement and insourcing/make plans challenging the status quo with resilience
  9. Ensure standard process deployment and adherence including audit/assessment performance (internal and external)
  10. Manage critical interface with Customer representatives (support Project and customer directors)
  11. Successfully implementing company policy, APSYS and developing strategic plans
  12. Maintaining constructive dialogue between all stakeholders including Union representatives with Human Resources
  13. Represents Alstom at local level and act as the Legal Representative (including the management and control) of the site
  14. Manage Assets Life Extension services contracts execution, identifies core competencies and defines operational goals
  15. Manage Workload and Resources in line with projects requirements and budgets
  16. Provides guidance for workers as needed and approves training opportunities
  17. Creates initiatives to take advantage of market opportunities, reduce operational, financial costs and business risks
  18. Ensure safety and security coordination for Alstom employees, assets and data in the site.
  19. Ensure that a crisis management system is developed and maintained.
  20. Ensure that the Ethics & Compliance policy is applied in the country in respect of all business transactions and of personal integrity
  21. Ensures Site cohesion, constructive Social relations, compliance with EHS regulations
  22. Implement and ensure right application of site Quality Management System

Performance Measurements:

  1. Finance (sales, margin, cash)
  2. Project QCD and On-Time Delivery
  3. Quality (GR GO On time, GR On time, Costs of Non-Quality, ISO compliance)
  4. EHS KPIs (IFR1, IFR2)
  5. Compliance Process, legal & Social Responsibility (industrial relations, ethics & compliance, ALSTOM Image)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial) from an accredited university
  2. Preferred: MBA, Master of Business Administration

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  1. Min. 20 years of experience managing large teams (+500 employees) and complex operations in the Rail/Transport/Automobile/Aerospace/Heavy Machinery/ Industrial Technology industry with at least 10 years of relevant experience in Operations, transformation/restructuring and General Management including Profit and Loss (+$1B P&L)
  2. Solid leadership experience in people management forming and leading unionized (and non-unionized) teams
  3. Good commercial knowledge for assessing business risks and opportunities enabling profitable decision making for the business
  4. Expert in train builds, repairs and overhaul. Lean manufacturing experience (VSM, Takt time, Kaizen)
