Join to apply for the Site HSE Advisor role at ANDRITZ

The Site HSE Advisor is mobilized to one of our construction work sites in Canada. The incumbent will support our teams in ensuring a safe work environment for all. They will work as part of a site team including the Site Manager, Supervisors, Quality Assurance Specialist, and Administrator. The role involves a mix of site office documentation and on-the-floor work to ensure full compliance with the HSE Management system.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure fulfillment of HSE requirements at the construction site, following health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plans in compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and government regulations.
  2. Support the Site Manager in HSE management and safety instructions for workers and partners.
  3. Act as the main local liaison with customer HSE organization and provincial regulatory agencies.
  4. Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports.
  5. Assist in the implementation and update of HSE plans.
  6. Identify risks and define control measures, including safe work procedures and Job Safety Analysis.
  7. Conduct regular safety checks and inspections.
  8. Assist in Toolbox talks and coordinate safety committees.
  9. Record and investigate accidents and incidents, perform Root Cause Analysis.
  10. Coordinate health, safety, and environmental aspects of site activities.
  11. Provide site-specific health, safety, and environmental training.
  12. Coordinate safety training, First Aid, and Fire Protection programs.
  13. Propose immediate corrections for HSE deficiencies and verify their effectiveness.
  14. Maintain OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and COR programs at the site.
  15. Support internal and external HSE audits.
  16. Coordinate with Workers Compensation as needed.
  17. Collaborate with HSE Advisor on HSE Management System updates.
Candidate Profile

Minimum Requirements
  • At least 3 years of HSE management experience on construction sites or heavy industries.
  • University degree in Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Provincial Construction Safety legislation.
  • Experience working in unionized environments.
  • Experience on construction sites (hydro power plant experience is a plus).
  • Strong communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Leadership, teamwork, and proven auditing and training skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, judgment, initiative, and creativity.
  • Willingness to travel and flexible work schedule.
