Job summary

WesTower Communications Ltd. seeks a Foreperson to lead on-site wireline crews performing shallow utility construction, including HDD, trenching, and cable placement. You will organize, supervise, and drive production while enforcing safety standards and quality control.

You will mentor crew members, read drawings, and ensure alignment with design specs, client expectations, and municipal rules. The role requires durable field leadership and hands-on problem solving in diverse Canadian sites.

Qualifications

• Proven safety and quality leadership in field crews.
• Experience managing shallow utility construction projects (HDD, trenching, cable placement).
• Strong communication to coordinate crews and stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop crew members for safety and efficiency.
• Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and schedules.
• Solid problem solving to resolve on-site issues.
• Demonstrated accountability and dependability on fast-paced worksites.
• Attention to redlines, as-builts, production reports and logs.

Responsibilities

• Directs daily activities of laborers, operators and drill teams to meet production targets.
• Leads daily toolbox talks and FLHA, identifying site hazards and enforcing PPE rules.
• Reads construction drawings to execute cable placement and conduit work per specs.
• Ensures underground installations meet depth, separation and client/municipal specs.
• Completes daily production reports, redlines/as-builts, timesheets and logs.
• Reviews utility locates prior to ground disturbance and daylighting of crossings.
• Trains and mentors entry-level workers to build skills and safety awareness.
• Oversees fleet equipment care and reports issues to the Construction Manager.
• Acts as on-site contact for inspectors or client reps when the Construction Manager isn’t present.
