Job summary

CAE is seeking a Simulator Technician I to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on several CAE and non-CAE flight simulators at the CAE Training Center in Toronto, ON. The role includes learning maintenance processes, diagnosing issues, and ensuring high safety and reliability of equipment.

You will join the Technical Services department and contribute to customer support, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives while adapting to flexible shifts and onsite work

Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree or 4 years in electronics/avionics/technical field.
  • Minimum of 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Ability to interpret system prints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in operating test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, signal generator, logic analyzer).
  • Knowledge in analog and digital theory.
  • Computer literate (PC and/or computer mainframe/architecture).
  • Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on simulators and associated systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and systems.
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record maintenance activities.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight checks on designated simulators.
  • Perform basic visual alignments.
  • Run automatic QTG tests.
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with CAE quality management system.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs timely.
  • Perform housekeeping and logistics duties.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Support the technical services group as needed.

Job description

As part of the Technical Services department within CAE’s Civil Training and Services division, you will perform all preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on several CAE and non-CAE flight simulators and associated devices at the CAE Training Center in Toronto, ON.

Description

In this role, the Simulator Technician I will be expected to:

  • Perform routine technical tasks on site, in field or laboratory.
  • Receive training in the various phases of laboratory, office, plant or field technical work.
Key Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Perform pre-flight and post flight on designated simulators.
  • Perform basic visual alignments.
  • Run automatic Qualification Test Guide (QTG).
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with CAE quality management system.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required.
Qualifications
  • 2-year technical degree or 4 years in an electronic, avionic, or technical related field.
  • Minimum of 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.

Working conditions
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Ability to pick up 25 lbs or more
  • Stooping, squatting may be required
  • Able to repair equipment in various spaces

Base Pay Range

Our total rewards package includes base pay and benefits, with final compensation determined by experience, skill, location, and internal equity. Pay rate range: $24.50 - $28.00 per hour
