Job summary

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd. in Surrey is seeking a Shunt Truck Operator to join our night shift team. You will operate a shunt truck, move trailers, and manage yard tasks in a high-volume environment.

A Class 1 license is an asset, but experience with shunt trucks or trailer articulation is required. You will load/unload, complete waybills, and help keep docks and yards organized.

Qualifications

• Shunt truck/trailer articulation experience is required.
• A Class 1 license is considered an asset; however, experience operating a shunt truck is required.
• Ability to load/unload trucks and complete related paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Operate a shunt truck and move trailers within the yard and terminal.
• Put in P&D units and pull trailers from the warehouse.
• Split LCV sets in the yard and maintain general yard organization.
• Load and unload freight as needed and assist with waybills.
• Receive freight and fill out waybills accurately.

Van Kam has an opening for a Shunt Truck Operator in our Surrey terminal. The successful candidate will be working in a high pressure, high volume atmosphere with critical time frames. A Class 1 license is considered an asset; however experience operating a shunt truck or trailer articulation is required.

Please note, this is a 7pm - 3:30am

Tasks include operating a shunt truck, putting in P&D units, pulling trailers from the warehouse, splitting LCV sets in the yard and general yard organization. Additional duties include loading and unloading of trucks, receiving and filling out waybills for freight.

The successful candidate must be comfortable utilizing tablets and handhelds.

It is important to note that we require:

• All LTL freight is cross docked
• Schedules depart on time
• High level of load factor
• Quality loading to minimize damages
