Job summary

A leading company, Stage 3 Separation, is seeking a Shop Technician 1 to be responsible for equipment assembly, maintenance, and inspection. This role requires familiarity with power hand tools and inspection tools to ensure top performance and safety in the workplace. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma with some technical training preferred, and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. The position offers regular hours with opportunities for overtime.

Job description

Stage 3 specializes in high-quality solids control equipment designed for mud systems to effectively manage solids, reducing costs for the customer and providing limited or zero discharge solutions as necessary. Additionally, Stage 3 employs a team of Solids Control Field Technicians, field supervisors, engineers, and scientists to make informed recommendations on job management for efficiency and cost savings.

The Shop Technician is responsible for assembly, disassembly, and reassembly of general equipment, operating necessary tools, and inspecting equipment using various M&TE (micrometers, calipers, etc.). The Shop Technician 1 reports directly to the Shop Manager. Work hours are 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime available.

Essential functions include:

  • Assembling and preparing equipment for installation and service
  • Assisting with packing, wrapping, loading, and unloading deliveries
  • Operating hot-water pressure washers for cleaning equipment
  • Supporting facility projects such as moving items, cleaning, and trash removal
  • Assisting team members with equipment installation, service, and cleaning
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Installing and verifying S3S decals prior to shipping
  • Requesting tools, supplies, and fixtures needed for work duties
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficiency with power hand tools and inspection tools
  • Ability to operate equipment like front-end loaders, forklifts, and overhead cranes
  • Fluent reading and writing in English
  • Manual dexterity and control precision
  • Critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (22.68 kg)
  • Tools provided for work
  • Diagnosing, disassembling, repairing, and rebuilding equipment (pumps)
  • Interpreting blueprints and schematics for assembly/disassembly
  • Operating manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools
  • Utilizing all M&TE
  • Working within precise standards of accuracy
  • Reliability and accountability in completing work

Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Preferred: 2-year Technical Degree or Associate's Degree
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable record
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work shifts over 8 hours, with travel as needed
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme cold and heat
  • Physical requirements include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, visual acuity, grasping, hand and finger movement, crouching, twisting, talking, hearing, lifting 50+ lbs, and cardiovascular exertion
