Job Title: Afternoon Shop Supervisor

Job Description

As the Afternoon Shop Supervisor, you will oversee a team of approximately 15 skilled tradespeople during the afternoon shift. You will manage workflow, delegate tasks, ensure safety and quality standards, and occasionally engage in hands-on mechanical and electrical work. This long-term leadership role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical experience and a passion for team development and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the afternoon shift crew (approximately 15 staff).
  2. Delegate tasks effectively to meet production goals and deadlines.
  3. Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical work as needed.
  4. Support and mentor team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  5. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  6. Communicate regularly with the Shop Foreman and supervisors.
  7. Monitor and report on shift performance, productivity, and issues.
  8. Assist in training new employees and evaluating performance.
  9. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop floor.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanically inclined with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Ability to read production drawings and use a tape measure.
  • Experience leading a team, such as a lead hand or supervisor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred: Heavy Duty Mechanic, Welder, or Commercial Equipment Technician.
  • Forklift and Overhead Crane experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with concrete pumps, sandblasting, industrial paint, or polishing is beneficial.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Business-minded with a people-first leadership style.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

Work in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment with a clean, spacious shop. The role operates during the afternoon shift, Monday to Thursday from 3:30 pm to 1:30 am, with overtime available on Fridays. The facility features automated systems, including the largest paint booth in the lower mainland. Flexibility to assist in different departments as needed is required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
