Job summary

Canadian Plains Energy Services in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, seeks an experienced Shop Supervisor to lead our fabrication team. You will oversee welders, plan daily production, and drive safety and efficiency in a fast-paced shop.

You will read isometric drawings and P&IDs, mentor staff, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and records.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge for fabrication and hydrotesting.
  • Proficient in reading isometric drawings and P&IDs.
  • Experience with preparation and fit-up in welding shop.
  • Forklift experience and certification is an asset.
  • Superior leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage workflow and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of welders and support staff in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate daily production activities to meet project deadlines.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate staff, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
  • Operate and oversee the use of equipment including forklifts, band saws, bevellers, torches and plasma cutters.
  • Assemble piping for hydrotest.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of production output, materials, and maintenance activities.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Shop Supervisor to lead our shop Fabrication team. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership skills to oversee fabrication teams, maintain high production standards, and ensure safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of pipe fabrication and structural steel fabrication and a proven track record in manufacturing supervision.

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate staff, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.
