Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespeople in their duties.
  • Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
  • Occasional deliveries and pick-ups will be required.
  • Receive welding machines and chain hoists for repair and coordinate with warehouse.
  • Pack and ship repaired units to customers with warehouse support.
  • Report damages and shortages to vendors with necessary details.
  • Prepare inspection reports on equipment with service writers.
  • Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, bays, and yard; perform general labor duties.
  • Other miscellaneous duties may be assigned.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Welder Service Supervisor in Calgary, the primary functions of the Shop Laborer are all geared toward maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace while also supporting the overall shop and warehouse teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
  • Operating basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
  • Occasional deliveries and pick-ups will be required.
  • Receiving welding machines and chain hoists for repair via courier and/or transport services while working with the warehouse team and communicating with appropriate service writers.
  • Packing and shipping repaired units back to customers while working with the warehouse team.
  • Reporting damages and shortages correctly – contacting appropriate vendors with information as required.
  • Performing and documenting inspection reports on relevant equipment while working with the warehouse team and communicating with service writers and sales representatives.
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties of the warehouse, shipping/receiving bays, and yard (sweeping, organizing, general labour cleanup) while working with the warehouse team.
  • Other miscellaneous duties may be assigned.

  • Knowledge of welding equipment, construction materials, and fabrication techniques.

Education /Professional Training Requirements:
  • Must have valid driver's license and a 3 year driver's abstract, evidencing a clean driving record and a non-graduated driver's license.
  • Valid forklift operator certificate
  • Personable and professional, excellent customer service skills.
  • Fast-learner and team player with an aptitude for continuous improvements
Working Conditions:
  • Warehouse and office environment. Safety precautions are highly important.
  • Steel toed footwear is required.
  • Eye protection is provided.
