Job summary

EMCO Corporation in Canada seeks a Shipping Lead/Dispatch to coordinate accurate and on-time delivery of customer orders, including picking, packing, and liaising with drivers and freight teams.

You will plan delivery schedules by geography, maintain safety and efficiency, lead teammates, and ensure order accuracy while upholding company values.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; college/university degree an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year of warehouse experience, preferably shipping/dispatch.
  • Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Health and Safety rules and legislation while performing job functions.
  • Load and unload trucks, operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Shipping/Dispatch duties: picking material, counting, and packaging for shipment with documentation.
  • Give direction to material handlers and delivery drivers to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety; inform supervisor of safety issues.

Job Description

As our Shipping Lead/ Dispatch you will be responsible for coordinating the accurate and on time delivery of customer orders. This includes picking, packing, and coordinating with our delivery drivers and local freight companies. An attention to detail will ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction, along with the ability to multi task.

  • Provide a professional atmosphere for our customers

  • Have an attention for detail while picking orders and completing shipping documents

  • Be able to plan and organize delivery schedules based on geography/ shifting customer demands

  • Be comfortable multitasking and giving direction to other teammates to ensure orders are processed accurately and promptly

  • Know how to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment

  • Be courteous, friendly and build relationships with customers and teammates


Job Duties And Responsibilities


  • Follow all Health and Safety rules and legislation while performing job functions

  • Load and unload trucks, operate forklift and other material handling equipment

  • Shipping/ Dispatch duties include:

    • Picking material for customer orders, counting and comparing items to the shipping documentation

    • Assemble material and pack appropriately for shipment to customer

    • Complete documentation for any shipments being delivered via third party carrier or requiring Transportation of Dangerous Goods documentation

    • Giving direction to material handlers and delivery drivers to ensure on time delivery



  • Inform the Supervisor of any inventory discrepancies and damaged/defective material that would impact customer service levels

  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debris

  • Inform Warehouse Supervisor and/or Profit Centre Manager of any safety issues within the warehouse

  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Profit Centre Manager


Qualifications

What we are looking for from you:


  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; College and/or University degree an asset

  • A minimum of 1 year of warehouse experience, with preference for shipping/ dispatch

  • Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills

  • Able to develop comprehensive product knowledge

  • Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and any other material handling equipment

  • Possess a high level of attention to detail

  • Able to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders

  • Ability to multitask

  • Experience leading a team/ giving direction

  • Intermediate math skills


Preferred Skills


  • Previous experience with or knowledge of products sold at the Profit Centre

  • Experience using M3, Word, Excel, and Outlook


Additional Information

Salary Range - $40,000-$60,000+ (Inclusive of Profit Sharing Bonus)
